I bought this toy for my daughter when she was five months old. The construction is solid, the colors Fisher-Pricey. My daughter enjoyed watching the beads fall through all the holes and gather in a heap at the bottom. The hollow sound of beads falling is actually soothing. All surfaces are smooth and the rattle can 'roll away' from the baby, leading to more entertainment.
Note that it is too heavy for a child younger than 7-8 months to hold.
