Durable, Educational AND Fun - a wonderful toy! by Amy S. Mcfarland (California) 5 Stars
October 23, 2009
My son received this for his second birthday, and while he was admittedly too young to get the full benefit, he is now three and wants to use it every day. It has familiarized him with a QWERTY keyboard, which is fantastic in my book since many kids' laptop and computer toys put letters in alphabetical order, not how they are on a real keyboard. The mouse can also be moved to either side, so if you have a lefty or a righty, a quick move gets the mouse where they need it. The Clickstart comes with a few games pre-loaded, some that deal with letters and the keyboard, some with arrow keys and some with the mouse. There are also two levels, so beginners and kiddos who have some experience with it can each have a good time. My son loves the ABC tree, which starts asking children to press any letter they like, and then progresses into asking them to find specific letters on the keyboard. The keyboard is color-coded (each of three lines has a different color), which also makes it easier to learn your way around the keyboard. If my son ever gets stuck on a letter, he'll ask me what color it is so he can find it easier. His other favorite game is Scout's House, which involves using the mouse to direct the puppy around his house and backyard - another great game!

Great idea, if you work for Duracell by James A. McCurdy (Woburn, MA United States) 3 Stars

My 3 1/2 year old has loved this toy for about a year. I am about to buy more rechargeable batteries because there is no 'sleep' mode for the silly thing, and batteries die VERY quickly. I'd suggest rechargeables if you buy this. LeapFrog could have spent $.000005 and added an 'off' switch to make this a great product, but they went cheap. Otherwise, lots of fun. Keeps him off of my home PC... can't beat that!

Our niece loves this computer. by Bargain Hugger (VA USA) 5 Stars

We bought this item for our niece's 4th Birthday, and she loves it. Her mother says as soon as she wakes up in the morning, she wants to play on her Leap Frog computer. This a great product. I recommend it highly.

Eats battery and mouse is difficult to use. by Susan A. Parsley (Houston, Texas USA) 1 Stars

The keyboard unit does not have an off switch and it constantly polls looking for the control unit. We turned it on for the first time and used for about 15 minutes. When we came back to it the next evening it was dead. I like the games, but the mouse is difficult to use and when the batteries are dying works irratically and is frustrating for my little one.

3.5 year old loves it :) by S. Adams (Big Lake, MN) 5 Stars

My daughter has had this for about a year now. She drags it all over (by the mouse!) and it still works great for us. The biggest problem I have is getting her to be in "line of sight" with the base so the keyboard works smoothly. I would reccomend this to anyone, almost 1 year of play and only on our 2nd set of batteries, nothing has broken, and she's still adores it! Not many toys that I can say that about :)
