We used this kit and were pleased with the results. The kit contains all the materials you need to make a hefty amount of cinnamon or peppermint gum. Also included is an informative instruction sheet that discusses green issues and the rain forest as well as low-level science explanations. The written materials, including instructions, are well done. Everything you need is in the kit. You get lots of tasty gum. On the negative side, there is a lot of stirring and kneading of thick material.

My 5 year old daughter and I did this together, and she loved this. Yes, it is a little messy, and no the flavor does not last forever, but that simply is not the point! She beamed with pride at her creation and had everyone try some. It was not that bad at all. :) Mostly, I like toys like this because it is time we spend together, accomplishing something.

Awesome and fun with cool information about the making of and history of gum. Chewing gum is very sticky, however and tricky to clean, but don't let that put you off. It's good family learn-u-cational fun.

I purchased several kits to enhance our science program during Vacation Bible School and the kids loved making the chewing gum. It was a pretty sticky activity but the gum easily washed off their hands and face. We limited the activity to 8 to 11 year-olds and they were very enthusiastic about it. The instructions are easy to follow but I would recommend just allowing the kids to roll and knead the gum in the confectioner's sugar and flavoring and making gum balls. The flavor doesn't last long but the fun is in the making of the gum and understanding where gum comes from not in the end product. We used one kit for 6 to 8 children and that gave them each a nice piece of gum at the end.
