| Very good by science_man 4 Stars October 04, 2007 I got this a item a couple of days ago, and I'm still having tons of fun putting the atoms together with bonds, to learn about the basics of atoms, and molecules. Okay, it might not be the most detailed molecule set I've ever had, but for only $15, its well worth it! I wouldn't say it was a toy, but more of a teaching/demonstration model for the basics of molecules, and atoms. I do a lot of lectures with kids, and I don't need a huge, fancy set to teach some small children. If you are in advanced chemistry, then I wouldn't recommend it for you. But if you are just starting to learn about the amazing world of atoms, molecules, and chemicals, then I would say to buy it with NO hesitation.
| | Good, but not what I expected by A. Byrd (Lawrence, KS) 2 Stars September 23, 2007 I'm currently taking Organic Chemistry, and when I saw this model kit I decided to buy it. When it arrived, it was not at all what I expected.
This is a very small kit. I was not able to make many of the structures I was studying due to the fact that there was just not enough representative balls to make many complex structures. The "bonds" in this kit are made of springs. They are often difficult to get into the balls, and sometimes they even fall out. When structures are made they are very unstable.
Also, because springs are used, it is very difficult to twist the structure around, which is important to see different conformations of the structures.
Overall, the product just seems very unprofessional.
I would recommend this product for very basic, middle school chemistry, but not much higher than that.
