| Fun game for entire family by Monica Bagchi (Denver,CO) 5 Stars November 05, 2009 I had purchased this game for myself, but my eight year old daughter enjoys this as much as i do if not more. There are a few games in different categories designed to exercise the brain for a few minutes everyday. Lot of fun.
| | This really is strangely addictive by F. Caldwell 5 Stars November 03, 2009 I don't know what it is but Brain Age is freakishly addictive. I've only had it for about four days but I've played it every day for at least an hour. I do the little training exercises. I play a couple rounds of Sudoku. Then I turn it off. An hour later I turn it back on and play Sudoku some more. I go through the math training exercises again for fun. Now obviously I won't do this forever but I can see myself playing this game at least a couple of times a week from now on. It's just that type of game. You can pick it up, play for a little bit, turn it off, and come back when you have a couple of minutes free. And it's fun. Okay, maybe math doesn't sound fun to everyone but I like it. It's fun to see how much faster I can get the answers. And I just unlocked a new training exercise which gives me a sense of accomplishment. Maybe I'm just easy to please. When I bought Brain Age I was wondering if I would like it. Now I have my answer. Plus, the inclusion of Sudoku was a nice touch. I've never really been able to do Sudoku before but I'm getting the hang of it pretty quickly. The notation system was nice and easy to use and I love that it'll tell you when you make a mistake. Obviously an improvement over a book where you can make mistakes and not know when or where you went wrong.
I'm sure plenty of people have mentioned it but there are a few issues with the game. I do have trouble with the Stroop Test (say the color of the text, not the word) recognizing what color I'm saying. I have a quiet voice so usually I just hold the DS a little closer to my mouth. Problem solved. My biggest problems were actually in the writing. I make my 7s with a line through the middle. Obviously I had to stop doing that while playing Brain Age. It gets confused. I make my 8s with two circles. Sometimes if I didn't write fast enough Brain Age thought I was making zeroes. So I had to switch to the figure 8 for the game. And last but not least my 5 was apparently confusing the Sudoku game. Sometimes it thought I was making notes instead of writing 5. But that's also a pretty easy thing to fix. Occasionally I get confused letters for the memorize the words game but I think my handwriting is just bad. That's not really even a problem. After the initial breaking in period I've been fine with Brain Age's little quirks. It certainly doesn't interfere with my enjoyment.
| | Middle aged brain work by Donna Noble (Pittsburgh, PA) 4 Stars October 25, 2009 I just started using this program. I don't know whether it's working, but it's fun.
| | fun stuff by Sarah Deutl 4 Stars September 24, 2009 Love puzzles, but some parts of it were ridiculous. Like inputting numbers for the math was difficult. It kept thinking my 4s were 9s. It assumed some of my answers were finished because I picked up my stylus. But other than that, I greatly enjoyed the game.
| | Difficult to use by Sharon 2 Stars September 22, 2009 The portion you speak, rather awkward in public, plus, "say red", this is rated incorrectly. Also, when trying to write mathematical answer, it takes the first stroke, flashes wrong back at you, and you haven't completed drawing the number. It should be rated according to grade level, not imply it is for adults.
