| Kindof Disapointing Dementium? by T.S. (Orting, Wa. United States) 3 Stars September 12, 2009 I was overjoyed when I first saw this game because there aren't many games in this genre for ds. I have been a long time player of the Resident Evil games, Silent Hill, Alone in the dark, etc. Don't get me wrong I don't hate it, it's just so/so. It has a great story idea and lots of zombies and creepy crawlies, but for me at times to many different actions to accomplish on a hand held game system. Trying to walk using the directional pad while looking around w/the stylus, while holding a flashlight and trying to switch from the flashlight to a weapon to fend off attacking baddies. Yeah a little overwhelming! I haven't played for a few weeks now but I haven't given up, needed a break so I didn't get fed up. I would still recommend to anyone who is a fan of horror genre games because how many others are out there for ds, and like I said the idea is great and so are the baddies just needs a little tweaking. Dementium 2 is out now and I hope they did some of that tweaking, I will for sure get that one too! T.
| | Fun, but yet not satisfying. by JenJen (USA) 2 Stars March 08, 2009 I was looking for another "scary" game for the DS. I bought this game after reading the reviews because it looked like a good game and I was very excited after receiving it in the mail.
So I start playing the game...the start is very simple, choose a heart..the left or the right to store your game data. There's no extras, no information about anything else. Next thing I know, I'm playing this character who I know nothing about and I'm learning the controls and now I'm wandering in some hospital of some sort.
That's what bothered me, the game had absolutely no storyline presented at the beginning, and I understand that you play and find out whats going on...and I did, yet I still think the storyline was not well developed at all.
Now, if you don't care for story in a game and just enjoy shooting stuff, then I'm sure you'll love the game.
But in my opinion, the game was poorly developed when it came to the storyline. Also they could have added more than two DIFFERENT bosses (not including the last one), add more difficulty to the bosses, and add more different enemies.
What I did enjoy was the music and the ease of the controls.
I'd say rent the game, don't bother buying it. After all it'll take 6 hours MAX to pass it.
| | Amazing! by Joshua M. Goad 5 Stars February 13, 2009 Okay, first of all for those people writing reviews saying the game is bad based on it's controls need to just throw there ds in the garbage because all of the games are controlled this way on the ds, at least all of the fps games for that matter. Now this game will be hit or miss for some, but if you are a silent hill or resident evil or any type of horror gamer I would most definitely recommend you pick this up, because it has one flaw and that being a pretty unrewarding save system, but I am telling you from the bottom of may heart there is something to this game that I do not believe we have seen before and it truly stands out because of it. Definitely a classic game and will stand the test of time because of great graphics, characters and overall fun and unique game play.
| | Good game. by Kilraven (USA) 4 Stars October 24, 2008 Pretty good survival/horror game for the DS. Decent enough graphics for the DS. The control scheme took some time getting used to. My wife and I both enjoy it.
| | The good does not outweigh the bad by Greg Mullane (Gaineville, FL USA) 2 Stars October 19, 2008 Overall, not a bad game, but not really a good one either. It has a lot of potential: the atmosphere and storyline is good, the creatures are well done and can be frustrating to kill (in a good way), and the sound and controls are both well done. However, the gameplay itself is a bit monotonous and frustrating. It's not always clear where you need to go next, and the severe lack of ammo and ability of enemies to respawn in a particular area makes exploring next to impossible. Only allowing game saves at the end of a chapter can at times make this a very difficult game. Or at least an annoying one, if you've already solved most of the chapter already. All in all, worth a look at, but unless you really like the genre, you are better off with something else.
