EDITORIAL REVIEWS

Product Description
Puchi Puchi Virus does not resemble an ordinary puzzle game. The usual object drop style has been replaced with a more intuitive system of object linkage. Its simple design and surprisingly in depth gameplay can addict even the most demanding puzzle game enthusiasts. The objective is to form triangles by linking same-colored viruses together and erasing them from the screen. Victory conditions vary from mission to mission, but erasing all of the viruses will be the fundamental rule of this game. Erase all the viruses and you win, but if the screen gets filled with the emerging viruses you lose!

I Really Wanted To Love This by Linderpoo 3 Stars

I thought this would be a wonderful puzzle type game...those are my favorite. And it was for a while and then it just got too hard. I put it away and never played it again. I am sure it is just me, but I am terrible at the "chaining" part of the game. It also got a little boring...overall, and for numerous reasons, I am just not a huge fan of this game.

Cute and fast paced--with great controls and unique gameplay! by AlexJouJou (California) 5 Stars

My point of view: Middle aged gamer mom who is fairly recent into gaming in general. I play RPG (all types) and puzzle games. I look for puzzle games that are either unique, have a story line, are very portable (allowing saves anywhere) or those that are good for the 10-15 minutes before bed (when I don't want to deal with the gameplay or more engrossing story of an RPG type game). PPV (Puchi Puchi Virus) is kind of a strange game. It basically sets you up as a "Doctor" to treat/examine all these cases of this virus--which turn out to be puzzle games with some intriguing gameplay. In essence the "virus" comes in little colored blobs and your job is to connect three virii (blobs) together and then everything in the triangle that is created (by connecting the three blobs) is eradicated. You do all this in a square/rectangle box so it doesn't take up the whole screen--more like a box within the screen. You connect the virii by tapping on them with your stylus...you tap 1,2,3 and then tap quickly again on the #3 to get rid of the virii within the traingle created by your 3 virii or blobs. Sorry for the non technical blob talk! As you treat more cases and more advanced cases the speed at which the little blobs (virus) come is increased until it gets pretty frantic! Then there are some chains and combo's you can do to get rid of even more virii. There is a time limit and you earn points for treating patients and can view your stats (play time, rounds, total virii destroyed, etc) at any time. Although I'm not even nearing completion of the game it looks like there are 102 cases to treat which will translate for me to many hours of fun filled and addictive gameplay. The game saves after each case file which is great. Since each one so far hasn't been more than 2-5 minutes that is great for playing on the go. The graphics are just there--nothing too great but the virii are clear and the colors pretty good. The music is fine with some sound effects--I didn't feel anything much either way on it (good or bad). There is a great tutorial stage. The controls are very tight and stylus use is quite good and accurate. In menu's you can use the Dpad but in the actual gameplay its stylus all the way. This is not an over complicated game nor does it have a rousing story line--it is what it is--a unique puzzle game that is not like the others. This game would be a good fit for any age group or style of player if he/she likes puzzle type games. There isn't too much reading and the tutorials are pretty explanatory (you could pick up from just giving it a try without reading if necessary). The pace can get pretty frenetic but its not chaotic. Verdict: Highly recommended!
