| Worthless. It won't work and tech support is no help. by country girl (Montana) 1 Stars October 30, 2009 I bought this for my son for his birthday. It installs but won't run. He e-mailed technical support who told him it was a conflict with a windows update and to uninstall the update. He did uninstall the update and the game still won't run. Furthermore, everytime you turn your computer back on, the update reinstalls. So, that is not a practical solution to the problem. The game maker know there is a problem with this game and just leaves you with a worthless purchase. Don't waste your money.
| | Alot of fun! by Davethewave (Daytona Beach) 4 Stars October 25, 2009 I found this game to be alot of fun to play. I have been a bond fan for decades. This is the first bond game I have played. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because it didn't have handcontroller set up for this game. I like using a controller far more than a mouse in a FPS game. I liked how the game blended the movies (casino royale) into one another in the game. If your a bond fan you will enjoy this one!
| | Fast delivery and good conditions by Anchel Labena (Zaragoza, Spain) 4 Stars August 29, 2009 PC games are hardly ever found at this incredibly low price. And also if you're looking into playing multiplayer on LIVE or getting achievements, don't you worry: the box is unpacked and has the LIVE code untouched so you can enjoy the full-featured game.
The game arrived really fast. Great seller.
| | Never even launches by M. Graham (San Antonio, TX) 1 Stars August 12, 2009 I hope to one day play this game, but so far have not been able to even launch it. I am still exchanging e-mails with Activision, but in their latest response, it sounds like the game is incompatible with one of the security patches released for Internet Explorer. This means that if you have IE (that's most of you, right?), you can't play this game.
| | Game + Movie = Disaster! by Crazy pilot dude. (Germany) 3 Stars June 15, 2009 Well, like my title says; this commonly describes most PC Games (or console) games modeled after a movie. Not so with this game.
In this "alternate" adventure of the Bond genre the consumer is presented a game that is the best of both movies. Casino Royale action is mixed in with newer Quantum of Solace based scenarios. They blend together well through an elaborate back plot that is subtle but a feasible way of tying into both movies without just being basic re-caps. Classic Bond scenes are beautifully replicated and simulated with character face matching (that is amazing!) and the actual actors voices. No voice-overs here. Only closer to the end of the game do you get the understanding that the events are being "told" via an unfolding description of your game play that gives subtle hints to possible Craig/Bond follow up movies (do the game producers know something we do not?).
This game is amazing in so many aspects that at first glance the viewer is thrown into the Bond world head-on where your walking in "Bond's very expensive shoes." Although this quickly transforms to a repetitive and dull process where bad guys line up one after one while you entrench yourself into various hiding positions and nonchalantly pick them off as the pop their heads up. Even the stunning visuals could not draw away from the fact that the basic game play is very boring.
But like most newer games, this games strong point is really the multiplayer. Utilizing Windows Live link similar to an XBox, the PC user can easily establish an account and play other Bondophiles over a range of different and exciting multiplayer maps. The ranking system is very straight forward and expectant but the rewards are a bit unique. As you complete a multiplayer round your given a cash reward (and sometimes, depending on the achievement, a new pictogram award unlocked). With the cash that you save up after completing many hours of online game play you can purchase weapon and armor upgrades. The upgrades, besides being varied and different, also give the player an edge over the other multiplayer counterparts. This only lasts a limited time though as eventually everyone will earn enough to cash out with newer weapons.
PRO's:
~ Great visuals and level mapping.
~ The actual voice actors immerse you into the story.
~ Overall fun experience to kill time with.
~ Multiplayer is fun and face paced for vets and newcomers alike.
CON's:
~ Game play gets boring after a time.
~ Very linear level mapping (only a limited amount of routes go).
~ No room for further expansion.
Conclusion: As a regular gamer, I want a game that is going to challenge me and be easy to approach at first. Although QOS is easily approachable, its not very challenging and I soon found myself seeking something more. What would have been nice is to throw in a bit more of Bond's actual work. Give the player something to figure out or a different objective besides killing endless henchmen. For the price, QOS is a relaxing way to sit back and waste some free time. If you consider yourself a First person shooter player, this is a game that merits being played through at least once - it won't take you long.
