| Need Cardio Workout 2, or Plus or something -- can't get enough by VAGirl (Atlanta,GA) 5 Stars November 17, 2009 I REALLY hope the maker of this game is planning a follow-up game. It is a GREAT workout, fun and I've gone through all of the levels so I'm ready for more. I've increased my average heart rate by 25% after 3 months of doing this game on avg 3x/week.
If you're looking to increase your fitness as well as burn some calories this is for you. I'm an (unfortunately) overweight female, 36 yrs. old. Have always been active & put on 80 lbs after quitting smoking that I'm having a horrible time trying to lose. At first this game was kind of tough but, as with most things, practice makes perfect and I got the hang of the basic moves after about 2 days. I wear a heartrate monitor to track cals. burned as well as making sure I don't overdo it and realized one day that my avg. heart rate that is calculated within the "Medium Intensity" level had increased. So I'm working harder, burning more cals. and not feeling like I'm about to have a heart-attack -- in short, more physically fit.
The levels are challenging and, even though I've made it through all of them, can still challenge myself to improve my form, accuracy etc. In addition to wanting a follow-up game, I would like to see some kickboxing (leg work) added into this game. You work your legs by moving back & forth but I think some kicks would really add to the overall effectiveness. I LOVE this game! Oh, I also have Wii Fit, EA Sports Active, and Jillian Michaels' first game (which sucked) and even though those 1st 2 I like, Gold's Gym Cardio Workout beats them all.
| | Fun workout by Laurie Leilani Franklin (Portland, OR USA) 4 Stars November 13, 2009 This cardio boxing wii game is very fun. There are alot of options to do different workouts, and even choose different music.
I also like that in comparison to the wii fit boxing, this has leg work (kicking) as well.
This is one of my staple workouts!
| | Love it! by condimart 5 Stars November 09, 2009 I am a 46 year old single mom, and my kids just recently got the wii system a few months ago. I was getting so bored of my workout DVDs, so they suggested I get a workout game for wii. I chose this one because it had good reviews, and I have to say I LOVE IT! The first day I opened it I ended up playing for 3 hours straight without feeling the time! I was drenched in sweat and could barely move my arms the next day, but I love the fact that it gives real boxing instruction with a variety of activities. It's a great workout and I would recommend it to anyone of any age. Even my 13 year old loves it!
| | My wife loves it by Bill (Kalamazoo, MI) 5 Stars November 04, 2009 Ordered this with the Wii along with Fit Plus. We have had it for about a month, and my wife has used it just about every day-sometimes twice a day-and she tells me she is sore all over. More reps/options get unlocked as you progress to keep things interested. It is amazing that this has worked so well for her-highly recommended.
| | Fun workout, but don't expect perfection by elsalgal 4 Stars October 26, 2009 I bought this game when it first came out, and I use it more than anything else I own, including Wii Fit. The first time I used it I could barely move for several days, and eventually had to get a massage to take care of the last muscle in my back that just wouldn't stop hurting. It was a fantastic workout.
However, if you're the type of person who seeks perfection in video games, be warned--I have achieved a perfect workout exactly one time. That's a workout with all punches rating excellent. On just one or two other occasions have I achieved workouts with all excellents or goods. Yes, sometimes I actually miss a punch or throw it late, but the vast majority of the misses are when the system doesn't sense the punches that I throw. This is especially true with the blocking. I just completed a workout with masses of blocks. I missed NO punches, and NO blocks. But the system registered 96 missses--89 of them coming from blocks. I'm still seeking the secret to the blocks. Four in a row--the first one excellent, the next three--done exactly the same way--all misses. Sometimes when throwing two jabs in quick succession the system calls the first one excellent, and then the next one good--before I've even thrown it! It registers the second punch when I'm pulling back from the first!
You can get a great workout from this game, but if you're the type of person that gets frustrated because of scoring, be aware that you WILL be a bit frustrated. However, if you can overlook the scoring and just enjoy the workout, its a great one.
