If you have a love and respect for life and for our future, then you should see this remarkable look into the lives of indigenous people, the Earth and the lives of all of us...Here is an overview of what the film is about (not written by me) ya/ko/an/a n. dust from the resin of the virola elongata tree used by Yanomami Shamans in ceremony to enable them to perceive the breath of the planet, the song of the earth. "We walk to the future in the footprints of our ancestors...." "Yakoana" is the Indigenous People's story of earth. Culled from interviews, ceremony and music of Indigenous leaders from around the world, "Yokoana" weaves a picture of ancient cultures and a fight for sustainable life on earth. Native People tell of historical and current oppression of Indigenous cultures, environmental catastrophe and of the Indigenous world view which sees humans as not separable from nature, not separable from spirit. Shot in Brazil at the First World Conference of Indigenous Peoples, this is a spiritual journey, a warrior's insight and a potent message.
