Product Description
The knee is the largest joint in the body and is very susceptible to injury. The patient tore her anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL. Dr. Gary Poehling, one of the Bowman Gray School of Medicine in NC, replaces the ligament with an Achilles tendon obtained from a cadaver. The operation is performed under arthroscopic visualization, with a tiny camera inserted into the knee so that its interior can be displayed o a video monitor. The operation involves three incisions only a half-inch wide, which reduces both the risk of infection and the length of recovery time.
