The Pulsar Story
Pulsar by Seiko Holdings Corporation. A spectacular breakthrough Pulsar was born in an age of optimism. In the 1970's, everything seemed achievable through the rapidly growing technological expertise at the world's fingertips. Space flight had been converted from dream to reality, computer science was developing at break neck speed and electronics seemed to deliver new advances every day. Pulsar symbolized the age. It was new and it was bold, it was surprising and it was different. Pulsar, the world's first electronic digital watch, created a sensation when it was unveiled in New York in 1972 and it changed the world's perception of time. A tradition of difference When the brand was taken into the Seiko Corporation in 1980, it brought further surprises to the world; the first calculator watch in 1980 and the first all-quartz watch line in 1981 were among its industry-leading achievements. And throughout the '80's and 90's Pulsar continued to bring to market new products that were born to be different. The Avant-garde collection in 1980's set a new style in women's watches and Spoon in 1990's were unique designs which further cemented Pulsar's image as an ingenious and surprising watchmaker. I'd been looking for a watch to replace my dieing Seiko Alarm Chronograph. I'd been very happy with this watch, especially with the easy to set alarm that I could use to wake me from a short nap before the train reached my stop. Analog watches with alarm and chronograph are surprisingly hard to come by, so I was happy to find this Pulsar at a reasonable price.
It's a beautiful watch - a number of friends have complimented me on it. However, the alarm function is more complex to set - and I haven't actually gotten any use out of it - never can remember how to set it when I need it. I'm very tech and gadget savvy - so if I can't remember it - it's not designed well.
The other disappointment has been it's strap. While it's strong and sturdy, it has a rough pattern to the inside of the strap that gouges into my skin when I'm resting my wrists on it while typing at work. I inevitably have to take it off (as now) and lay it next to my keyboard. I'm afraid I'm going to have it swiped off my desk one of these days when I've stepped away.
Finally, the glow-in-the-dark bits on the hands and parts of the dial are rarely glowing. This may be from the fact that I don't have the watched exposed enough, but my old Seiko seemed to be visible in the dark far more often without any special treatment.
So, if you're looking for a handsome watch with great features, this is a good choice, but be prepared to change the band.

I like the style of this watch. It looks great and fits nice too. The alarm as many others noted is very quiet. I don't rely on it at all. I use my cell phone alarm now instead of the watch.If your looking for a watch to wake you up this is not it. But as good fit, feel and looks go, this watch has all of that going for it.

Nice watch but the neoprene band doesn't fit the quality of the watch, it seems very very cheap material, in the picture can't be appreciated, you'll have to change a 20cm band.

This is a really good looking watch and worked just fine. I bought it for the alarm, though, because I need to do something on the same day at the same time every week. The alarm was only capable of going off once in the next 24 hours and then it had to be set all over again each time I wanted to alarm it. Too much of a pain and I actually sold it on eBay for nearly the same price I paid for it. To get the type of watch/alarm I was looking for, I had to buy one that had an electronic alarm built in.

Almost complete. Good looking piece for the price, right weight, feel and overall precision. But, it should has thicker markings for each minute line, since they can't be seen amidst the markings for the Tachymeter seconds. Moreover, mine has sloppy workmanship, since the chronograph counter does not seat right at the o'clock position, but half second before!! making dificult to read as seconds accumulte.
Something good are the bright shinning of the hour dots, when hit by sunlight, and they keep shinning for some minutes!
