Its rugged construction makes for a very practical watch for any adventure, and the chronograph stopwatch can measure events down to 1/20 of a second. The large, round watch case measures 40mm wide (1.57 inches), and it's complemented by a sporty, water-resistant leather strap. | Nice looking watch but doesn't work properly by G. Berger (Bellerose, NY USA) 2 Stars November 15, 2009 I liked the looks of this watch and the reasonable price, but couldn't decide between the black or the white model, so I ordered both. Neither of them worked correctly. The black watch had a DOA indiglo light. On both watches the chronograph would not reset automatically. Another reviewer recommended hitting the button at just the right moment to stop it. Come on, that is not the way it's supposed to work. The instructions clearly state that it will reset to the proper position by itself.
In addition, the date can only be advanced by moving the hour hand a full 24 hours for each day you want to advance. I've had date watches for more than 40 years and the last time I saw that was in 1965.
On the other hand, if you're not bothered by the above it is a very attractive watch at a reasonable price. I almost kept the white one anyway, but decided to send them both back.
| | Not for me by Stonage (Boston, MA USA) 1 Stars November 10, 2009 Solid feel, good looking and almost what I wanted. I could not get used to the typical (large) second hand only working with the timer and the small dial hand actually being the second hand. Price was right, but the practicality for me was not. I returned the watch and bought a cheap temporary watch. Still haven't found what I'm looking for ....
| | Takes a licking and keeps on ticking by Michael Lee (TX/LA) 4 Stars October 24, 2009 The watch band is of good quality coupled with an excellent buckle. The dial on the bezel is in a fixed position(that cost it a star). The date and hour marks on the dial face are readable(smaller than I expected).the luminescence of the hands is marginal at best.It is of little consequence due to the back light that provides adequate light to see the hands and dial face. It keeps excellent time( no gain or loss) so far. I have used Casio G shocks for years and they are repugnant(ugly), but very durable. I have not smashed the Timex in to anything yet, so it has not been tested, although I have dropped it on concrete with no ill effects. The chronograph functions flawlessly and is easy to operate. I would purchase this watch again, for gifts to family and friends with complete confidence. I have large wrists(9") and will have to purchase a larger watch band at some point in the future.
| | Seconds hand seems to be dead by Leena Akatama (Helsinki, Finland) 4 Stars October 23, 2009 Hi,
I recently bought this watch. It has three hands, one one for hour, one for minutes and the third one for seconds but the one ofr seconds is dead, it doesn't move. Can somebody advise me on how to get it moving? I have read the mannual over and over but there's no mention of the seconds hand. Please help. otherwise I like the watch.
Amos.
| | Nice, But Not Perfect by Erik S. (Minneapolis, MN) 3 Stars October 20, 2009 The watch is every bit as beautiful as everyone else has described. It really is a good size, but it feels really nice on the wrist. The instructions for the watch are very clear when it comes to setting it up, and zeroing all the subdials.
All in all, I'm pleased with the watch from the standpoint that it looks great and tells time accurately. The stopwatch functions precicely - it's a bit odd to activate the chronograph. I expected all of the subdials to begin spinning, but only the main second hand started moving. Stopping the chronograph will swing the subdials to their proper time indication. A smart feature, I think; it preserves the batteries a bit.
The Indiglo is fantastic, and lights up the watch brilliantly - only the date window is not visible in the dark.
However, I've discovered that the alarm is hit and miss. Sometimes it sounds, sometimes it doesn't. The hourly alarm function, in particular, seems to work about 25% of the time it's set, where the daily alarm actually sounds 75% of the time it's set. Therefore, I'm not going to depend on this watch to wake me up.
I'll probably have to send it in to Timex to get it fixed; I have a feeling that the alarm problems are specific to the watch I received, not the line overall. These things happen.
