An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when one celestial object moves into the shadow of another. And the Stührling Original Eclipse Series has captured that phenomena right on the face of this stunning and graceful collection. With two dials intersecting within the large round shaped case the Eclipse Series pays tribute to the heavens above. A solar eclipse captures two amazing world wonders: the sun and the moon. Individually, they are truly magnificent in their own right. Merged together, they are flawless. And with the Solar Eclipse II, (the follow-up to the initial Solar Eclipse), the face of the large dial representing the sun with its hydraulically pressed Jonequille design of wavy sun-rays serves as an exquisite backdrop for the main dial (with hours and minutes) with the proportionately smaller dial (seconds) traversing the larger one. This clever and stylistic display of time further honors the planetary sciences by featuring an animated AM/PM indicator in the form of a sun and moon display between the two and three o’clock position. This "out-of-this-world" edition from Stührling Original is completed with an auto-correctional big date complication at the four o’clock position. The Solar Eclipse II is encased in a large 43 millimeter round case made of the only the finest 316L surgical grade stainless steel and you won’t be able to keep your eyes off the high polished steeply beveled bezel. The sharp angle of the ring around the case is complemented marvelously with the sharply angled luminous dauphine style hands. The Arabic numerals that are fanned around the perimeter of the dial are heavenly in their own right and make a perfect fit for the theme of the Solar Eclipse as they almost appear to be melting in the heat of the sun. With Krysterna™ crystals (front and back) and a knurled edge pull out crown and a decorated screw-in exhibition case back, the Solar Eclipse II is water resistant to 50 meters. The Solar Eclipse II is powered by a 25-jewel mechanical automatic movement which is fully decorated with Côtes de Genève and a Damier finished rotor with the Stührling signature emblem. A 22-millimeter wide crocodile embossed genuine French leather strap with ample padding holds this graceful timepiece to your wrist. The Solar Eclipse is finished appropriately with a push-button dual deployant clasp. Here comes the sun! |
