EDITORIAL REVIEWS | Product Description Pulsar Men's Tech Gear Alarm Chronograph Black Ion Stainless Steel watch PF3663 ICE Style: WYM_100527. | The Pulsar Story Pulsar by Seiko Holdings Corporation. A spectacular breakthrough Pulsar was born in an age of optimism. In the 1970's, everything seemed achievable through the rapidly growing technological expertise at the world's fingertips. Space flight had been converted from dream to reality, computer science was developing at break neck speed and electronics seemed to deliver new advances every day. Pulsar symbolized the age. It was new and it was bold, it was surprising and it was different. Pulsar, the world's first electronic digital watch, created a sensation when it was unveiled in New York in 1972 and it changed the world's perception of time. A tradition of difference When the brand was taken into the Seiko Corporation in 1980, it brought further surprises to the world; the first calculator watch in 1980 and the first all-quartz watch line in 1981 were among its industry-leading achievements. And throughout the '80's and 90's Pulsar continued to bring to market new products that were born to be different. The Avant-garde collection in 1980's set a new style in women's watches and Spoon in 1990's were unique designs which further cemented Pulsar's image as an ingenious and surprising watchmaker. Towards a modernist future Today, Pulsar remains loyal to its heritage. It was born to be different and it will remain so. Each Pulsar watch has the hint of the futurism and modernity that have always been its hallmark. Pulsar is a brand for the individual who appreciates real value and seeks quality with individuality and flair. |
CUSTOMER REVIEWS (Average Customer Rating: 4.5 based on 15 reviews)
| Beautiful, warranted, but... by Michael H. Montgomery (Oak Lawn, IL USA) 3 Stars October 11, 2009 This a beautiful watch. I am making an upgrade from a Timex Expedition that broke 6 months after the warranty expired (18 months). The directions are somewhat confusing, so it may be that I need to reread them again to see what it is that I did wrong. But it would appear that the alarm feature is good only for ad hoc use (set an alarm for the end of the meeting, when it is time to go, etc.) and so is really a high class timer more than a the alarm feature that I was used to on the Timex (every morning it went off). So it has less functionality than did the Timex, albeit with its own beauty and a 3 year warranty instead of one year. I like it to much to send it back, but it isn't quite what I wanted.
| | Great watch by JD (Quincy, CA) 5 Stars October 01, 2009 Love it. Durable high quality. Very accurate and looks great. Exactly what I was looking for. Five stars!
| | nice watch, not black by Michael S. Poorazzo (washington dc) 4 Stars September 25, 2009 I purchased this watch as an alternative to the Citizen nighthawk. On the computer, they are similar although not identical. When I received the pulsar and opened the package, I thought I had received the wrong watch. The color is actually dark gray. Very sleek and impressive, great watch, but not black. Another reviewer made the same comment about the color but I did not take him seriously. Even though its not black, still a very nice watch.
| | Great watch and outstanding value - easy-to-set alarm by Robert S. Tobias (Arlington, VA USA) 4 Stars September 14, 2009 The good: Solid feel, comfortable band, luminous markers are very clear. One very handy thing is the alarm. It is very easy to set because it always "starts" from the current time. To set it, pull out the crown, hold the bottom button to make the alarm hands zip around, and let it up at the desired time. Push the crown back in and you're done. There is also a "hidden feature" that allows you to use this as a sort of accurate timer. Pull out the crown, push the bottom button once for each minute you want to time, and push the crown back in. Because the alarm trips as the minute changes the actual time till it goes off when set this way can be +/- 1 minute. If you push the button 10 times then the alarm will go off somewhere between 9 and 11 minutes. It's not perfect but still handy if it's all you have. The stop watch is, of course, more accurate but you have to remember to look at it.
The bad: Nothing really
The subjective: I found this watch to be a bit on the heavy side. If you like heavy watches then this is fine. It is also not really black... more of a bronze/grey kind of thing. I think that adds to the appearance but it should have been better described. The alarm is very soft. You cannot wake up to this and I don't think that was the design. You might consider this a feature; it can be heard in a quiet environment without disturbing others around you.
| | great watch by William F. Ziegler II (Lanaster, PA USA) 5 Stars June 08, 2009 Saw this watch in a magazine ad last year, was very happy and surprised to see it on Amazon at such a great price. I think the watch is a great alternative from the same old silver and gold watches. It also represents a great blend of sport and dress. I am very happy with the watch and would recommend the watch as well as the retailer that sold it.
