Want to clear up some complaints by M. Reed (Indiana)  4 Stars

I want to start by saying I am electronic Technician for a large university in Indiana. We use this product on campus to do exactly what it is intended to do. I have read many reviews saying that this product doesn't work. Lets start by saying if you don't have signal outside, this product does not work. It will retransmit the signal that is outside to the inside. If you have one bar outside, then you get one bar inside. Also, I know that it says to mount in the attic, but you really need to mount it outside to get the best "bang for your buck", but I do realize this takes some advanced installation techniques. I really do like this product and will be installing one of these for my mother-in-law very soon. I hope this clears up some confusion for people. On a side not, if you are trying to decide which frequency band you need, keep in mind that can change when you get a new phone or change service providers (most don't use only one band). For that reason I would recommend the dual band unit.

This worked perfectly. We have a metal building at work and could not receive cell phone signal in our building. This is a great product but will require you to install the unit. Instructions are straight foward and the unit worked instantly. We were able to get full bars of cell phone service. ATT phones can get 3G service were my phone (tmobile) toggles to 3G every once in a while. I am 100% happy with this booster

I believe this product works well for some people, but I had to return mine. As a signal _booster_ I thought, and didn't read to the contrary, that if you can reliable make phone calls from outside your house then you get the full benefits of this product installed inside your house.
I didn't find this information pre-purchase, but the manual in the box clearly says (approximate quote) "if you only have one bar outside your home the usable range of the device inside your home will be limited to a single small room". I can confirm this statement to be true. Before purchasing, I had assumed that if I could reliably make phone calls outside (I get one bar) then I would get a nice 2,500 sq. ft. coverage of a strong one bar inside my home. Not so. The product did give me adequate coverage when my phone was within five feet of the inside base unit, but any further or go around a wall and the device didn't help me at all. My DROID phone reports signal strength numerically and the best signal I had outside or in the attic is -96 dBm (fairly weak). With this unit temporarily installed (signal antenna in the attic and base until on first floor of 2-story house) my signal was -90 dBm right next to the base unit. If I moved my phone more than about six feet away signal dropped to around -101 dBm, and moving any further returned me to the same unusable inside phone signal I had before trying this product.
I think this product may work great for you if you have a very strong signal outside your home or office, like three bars or higher, but no coverage inside. This product probably has a "sweet spot" of being just far enough away from a cell tower to pull a very strong outside signal and bring it inside. However, if you are a little further away from the cell tower and only have a weak but usable signal outside, then this product doesn't have enough signal to work with. If you have weak but usable outside signal you might consider an upgraded outside signal antenna, but adding $150 to the product price to make it work just doesn't fly with me.
Since I am a Verizon wireless customer I'm going to next try their Network Extender product which uses completely different technology. The Network Extender gives you cell coverage inside your home but uses your broadband Internet connection to handle your cell phone call connectivity (think VOIP for mobile phones).

I install it in the roof of my house following all the instructions, and it works. Before I was not able to make phone calls from my room but know I am capable. Sometimes I have to dial one or two times so that it detects my cell and I have signal, because of this and that the range of the signal is not very good I give it only 3 stars.

I just opened up a lower level bar (Speakeasy in Cleveland) and my customers commented that they weren't able to call or text while they enjoyed their cocktails. this signal booster solved that problem in a hurry.
easy to install. works like a charm. highly recommended.
