European Geosciences Union 1st General Assembly, Nice, France, 25 - 30 April 2004March 18, 2004Press registration for this meeting is now open. The EGU 1st General Assembly will be held in the Nice-Acropolis Congress Centre in Nice, France, from Monday-Friday, 26-30 April 2004. On Sunday, 25 April 2004, registration will start at 14:00, and there will be an Opening & Union Award Ceremony in Athena at 16:30 - 18:00, followed by an Open Reception at 18:30 - 20:30 in Les Muses & Terrace, 3rd floor. The EGU 1st General Assembly will bring together geoscientists from all over Europe and the rest of the world into one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth and Planetary Sciences: geology, geomorphology, geochemistry, geophysics, geobiology and hazards research alike. More than 8,000 scientists are expected to attend this event with more than 4,000 papers, nearly 4,000 posters in nearly 400 thematic sessions, Union and Educational Symposia, Short Courses and Workshops, Key Note and Medal Lectures and Townhall Meetings as well as separate meetings of working groups. This will be the largest and most prominent event in the geosciences held in Europe today.
