Media briefing - Space Policy: the EU and ESA Present Prospects for Further Co-operation The Green Paper on European Space Policy, and beyond
January 23, 2003
WHO? European Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin European Space Agency Director-General, Antonio Rodot' WHEN?Monday 27 January 2003 11.00 - 12.30 hrs.
WHERE?Planetarium of the Royal Observatory of Belgium Avenue du Bouchot 10 1210 Brussels
WHAT?The Green Paper on European Space Policy, and prospects for further co-operation between the EU and ESA
On 21 January, the European Commission adopted the Green Paper on EU Space Policy. This document, prepared by the Commission in co-operation with the European Space Agency (ESA), paves the way for a broad consultation of European space sector players, and will lead to the presentation of a White Paper later this year, including a detailed action plan on European space policy.
But other issues to be tackled include the EU-ESA co-operation with Russia, as discussed in a high-level workshop this week in Moscow. And, as the 6th EU Research Framework Programme (FP6 2003-2006) takes off, the Commission is also pumping EUR1,075 billion into aerospace research.
To discuss these topics, European Research Commissioner Philippe Busquin and ESA Director-General Antonio Rodot' invite you to a press conference to be held on Monday 27 January, at 11:00 am at the Auditorium of the Planetarium of the Royal Observatory of Belgium.
This press conference and informal press lunch will provide a unique opportunity to interface with Director-General Rodot' and Commissioner Busquin on these key issues for the future of Europe in space. Director-General Rodot' and Commissioner Busquin will also be available for interviews.
