Junior award for bronze structuresNovember 28, 2002The German Society of Electroplating and Surface Technology (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Galvano- und Oberfl'¤chentechnik e.V., DGO,) has honoured Dipl.-Ing. Gabriele Goet with the DGO-Award 2002. The prize is awarded once a year for valuable scientific contributions in the fields of electroplating and surface technology. Gabriele Goet is working as an engineer in the fluidic and simulation department of Institut für Mikrotechnik Mainz GmbH (IMM), where she developed advanced procedures for manufacturing metallic micro structures in the frame her master thesis. By combining UV-lithography with electroplating, she succeeded in producing bronze structures in layers of up to 500 µm thickness. More accurate structures and steep edges of almost 90° are the result of a synthesis of advanced technologies. With these new processes, metallic microstructures can be made of bronze as an alternative to Ni/Fe-alloys. The work has been evaluated by experts and considered to be a valuable contribution to microstructure technology, which is supposed to be an essential, promising and growing sector of electroplating technology. | |||||||||||||||||||||
