New Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of PathologyFebruary 13, 2002John Wiley is pleased to announce that Professor Simon Herrington has been appointed the new Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Pathology. In his final editorial to be published in the March issue of the Journal of Pathology Professor Peter G Toner says, “It has been a great pleasure and a privilege to serve as Editor-in-Chief and I wish Professor Simon Herrington and his new Editorial Team every success in the years ahead.” Professor Simon Herrington is a long standing member of the Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland and he has been a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Pathology since 1995 and an Associate Editor since 2001.
The change of Editor-in-Chief will also be accompanied by some changes to enhance the immediacy and impact of the journal. A new editorial office has been opened in the London Offices of the Pathological Society of Great Britain and Ireland. A Web-based manuscript tracking system that will allow more rapid communication between authors, editors and referees will underpin this new structure and enhance the speed of publication. Usage of the online version of the Journal of Pathology has increased dramatically, with 85% more downloads of articles in 2001 than in 2000. Through the Wiley InterScience Contents Alert service, users can now sign up to have the table of contents for the journal delivered to them by e-mail as soon as a new issue is published online. “I would like to thank Professor Toner on behalf of the members of the society; the editorial board; and the authors and readers for his commitment to the Journal and for the very high standards that he has set during his term in office,” said Herrington. “I hope that I can go some way to emulating his professionalism in order to take the journal forward over the coming years.” John Wiley & Sons | |||||||||||||||||||||
