Press Conference: Digital Radio Mondiale To Reveal Latest Progress Toward Digital AMAugust 23, 2001As its launch date draws closer, Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) will reveal its latest technical progress toward digital AM in a bilingual press conference (German/English) at IFA 2001 on Monday, August 27th. The event will feature DRM Chairman (and Deutsche Welle Chief Engineer) Peter Senger, DRM Director of Press & Communications Siriol Evans, and leading experts from DRM member companies and organizations. Speakers will include: Albert Heuberger, Head of Communication Systems Department, Fraunhofer Institute; Dr. Thomas Hirschle, President of the Board Committee and the LfK, DLM; Michael Pilath, Project Manager Digital (Long-, Medium- and Short-wave), Deutsche Telekom AG; and Wolfgang Schaefer, Project Manager, DRM, Robert Bosch GmbH. It will take place from 2:00 -2:45 p.m. in the "Talk In STF" area of the Science & Technology Forum (Hall 5.3) at IFA, Messe Berlin. DRM is an international consortium of 69 broadcasters, network operators, radio and transmitter manufacturers, and researchers. Its leading edge technical experts have joined forces to create affordable, digital radio for the broadcasting bands below 30 MHz (long-wave, medium-wave and short-wave).
