New journal 'SOFT MATTER' to be launched by the Royal Society of Chemistry
November 17, 2004The largest organisation in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences, the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), announced yesterday at the Jülich Soft Matter Days 2004 conference that it will launch a new publication, Soft Matter, in Summer 2005.
This high quality interdisciplinary publication will publish research on soft materials, including complex fluids, with a particular focus on the interface between chemistry and physics.
Soft Matter will be a monthly journal publishing reviews and important original research in the form of communications and articles covering all soft materials and complex fluids. The aim is to provide a forum for the communication of the generic science underpinning the properties and applications of soft matter. Soft Matter will be published in print and online in the RSCs Journal of Material Chemistry and will have instant visibility to a wide audience and a broad readership.
'Soft matter pervades our world' said Dr Peter Gregory, Managing Director of RSC Publishing. 'From biological systems, through washing powders, medical formulations, plastics, and paints to modern TV and computer screens. Methods of designing, producing and controlling these materials will underpin the technological developments of the future. The RSC recognises the importance of this area by launching Soft Matter.'
