UniS Lecturer to serve on Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the EnvironmentAugust 09, 2004Dr Corinne de Vries, Senior Lecturer in Pharmacoepidemiology at the Postgraduate Medical School at the University of Surrey, has been invited to serve as a member of the Committee on Toxicity of Chemicals in Food, Consumer Products and the Environment (COT) with immediate effect until 31 March 2007. COT, which is part of the Department of Health, examines a wide range of including the health and occupational hazards of using pepper spray, toxins in food, and how radiation from mobile phone masts does or does not affect health. Corinne says, 'Membership of the COT is an excellent opportunity to make a constructive and positive contribution to public health. It is important for academics to take an active role in interpreting the implications of research for public health and in the implementation of such research into public policy.' | |||||||||||||||||||||
