New Booklet Offers More Help For UK Organisations Seeking EU Research and Development FundingJuly 01, 2004A new user friendly, plain English guide is now available to help UK companies and organisations decide if they have projects that are likely to be eligible for some of the EUR19 billion funding available under the EU's Framework Programme Six (FP6) programme. The eight-page booklet - 'FP6 Is It For You?' - is aimed primarily at people and organisations new to European Framework Programme funding. It provides an introduction to FP6 and outlines the types of projects that are eligible for the research and technological development funding. "The main aim of FP6UK is to create an easily accessible gateway to the EU Framework Programme", says FP6UK project director Paul Leeks. "As the first really practical guide for anyone new to Framework Funding, 'FP6 Is It For You?' provides a quick and simple check list to enable people to determine whether the current Framework Programme could be of help to them. The booklet provides a clear step-by-step guide to FP6 funding, pointing out the benefits and possible pit-falls that may be encountered along the way, as well as highlighting further sources of information and help." 'FP6 Is It For You?' is available by ringing the FP6UK helpline on 0870-600-6080 or can be downloaded from the website http://fp6uk.ost.gov.uk The FP6UK website also gives direct, quick and efficient access to the whole raft of support services offered by the UK Government on the EU Framework Programme at the click of a mouse. With simple navigation, it pulls together a wide range of information that was previously scattered over numerous smaller, and sometimes unrelated sites. This includes news; case studies highlighting how current and previous Framework funding has helped other UK organisations; answers to frequently asked questions; a basic library of relevant EU and UK documents; a signposting section indicating where and how to access potential project partners; and a wide range of expert advice provided by National Contact Points (NCPs). FP6, the current Framework Programme, runs to the end of 2006 and aims to strengthen European research and technological development capability and encourage Europe's international competitiveness. FP6UK has been developed in recognition of the vital importance of this type of research if UK business and industry is to remain competitive on the world stage. Glasgows |
