Information Days Set To Boost UK Applications
June 23, 2004The number of UK organisations seeking partners for major research and development projects that qualify for funding under the EU's Framework Programme is likely to increase following a series of information days.
Feedback from delegates was extremely positive with the majority saying they would participate in a future project proposal, confirming the desire of UK industry and academia to participate and succeed in the Sixth Framework Programme.
The one-day events, held throughout the UK, attracted almost 200 key delegates. They had all expressed an interest in the forthcoming Framework Programme Joint Call covering the areas of Information Society Technologies and Nanotechnologies, Materials and Production. The call is expected to open within the next few weeks with a budget of approximately EUR180 million, divided across the areas of:
Integrating Technologies for the Fast and Flexible Manufacturing Enterprise
Bio-sensors for Diagnosis & Healthcare
Materials, Equipment & Processes for Production of Nano-Photonic & Nano-Electronic Devices
The previous Joint Call between these two specialist areas provided EUR7.7 million (from a budget of EUR60 million) to over 40 UK Organisations, who were involved in a successful R & D proposal as part of a European consortium.
