Kingston fashion students to unveil catwalk collectionsJune 04, 2004Students from the internationally-respected Department of Fashion at Kingston University are preparing to follow in the footsteps of their predecessors by clinching top jobs in the international clothing world. Reporters and photographers are invited to join representatives from fashion houses across Europe and the United States at the Atlantis Gallery in London's Brick Lane on Tuesday June 15 for the University's Fashion Degree Show, sponsored by the Dewhirst Group. Last year the Kingston fashion degree course was described as "a benchmark of how a successful course should be established and run" in research commissioned by the British Fashion Council and the Department of Trade and Industry. A Study of the UK Design Fashion Sector cited Kingston as the university that set the standard for the other 91 institutions running fashion courses. Head of Department John McKitterick, an expert in menswear design who has previously worked for Versace, Levis and Red or Dead, said he was excited about the career prospects of this year's students. "They are already being offered design positions worldwide from an impressive and highly diverse range of fashion houses. This will cement Kingston fashion department's reputation for helping students achieve their dream of becoming major players in the fashion industry," he said. | |||||||||||||||||||||
