Third Call for EUR2.3bn EU Funding Opportunity to be LaunchedMay 18, 2004The third Call for proposals under the Life Sciences, Genomics and Biotechnology for Health theme of the EU's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) will be launched at a free event on 16th June 2004 in the historic setting of Church House, London, hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry and the Medical Research Council. Any organisation considering applying for funding from the EUR2.3bn allocated for Life Sciences research during the lifetime of FP6, will benefit from attending the event where the agenda will include: Speakers from the European Commission and British Industry Opportunities for SMEs Examination of other areas under FP6 of interest to Bioscientists The Evaluators story: how to give your proposal to best chance of success. The launch event will be followed on 17th June by workshops addressing two areas of the programme - Cancer and Diseases Related to Poverty. These parallel sessions will also take place at Church House in London and will be followed by lunch and the opportunity to network with the speakers and other delegates. Claire Horton, DTI National Contact Point for the Life Sciences, Genomics and Biotechnology for Health programme, said: "Our aim is to ensure that UK organisations receive a fair share of the financial support available through Framework Programme funding for R&D projects carried out with partners from Europe and beyond. Framework Programme funding is a major source of support for highly innovative projects for industry, academia and other organisations."
