10-year mortality among first-time mothers involved in family court care proceedings in England: cohort study using linked administrative hospital, mortality and family court records

An analysis of family court proceedings found that first-time mothers who faced care proceedings were 21 times more likely to die within 10 years. Most of these deaths (73%) were preventable and related to suicide, homicide, drugs/alcohol, or unintentional injury.
