A new study directly observes far-ultraviolet-driven photoevaporation of a protoplanetary disk in the Orion Nebula. This process strips the disk of gas and dust, potentially suppressing gas giant planet formation within a million years. The findings provide insights into constraints of gas giant planet formation in our Solar System.
