Researchers estimate that replacing conventional building materials with CO2-sequestering alternatives could store up to 16.6 gigatons of CO2 annually, equivalent to about 50% of 2021's anthropogenic emissions. This shift in construction materials could provide a substantial carbon reservoir and help slow global climate warming.
