Researchers found that hand hygiene was effective in limiting transmission of ESBL K. pneumoniae, but additional measures like environmental decontamination were necessary to prevent spread of ESBL E. coli. Wearable sensors tracked human contact patterns over eight weeks, revealing the importance of close proximity interactions.
