Researchers developed an implantable bioelectronic device to monitor thermal characteristics of the kidney, detecting inflammation and perfusion issues associated with rejection. The device identified onset of rejection ~3 days before blood biomarkers in non-treated rats and ~2-3 weeks earlier in immunosuppressed animals.
