The average cost of treating hospitalized COVID-19 patients rose from $10,094 to $13,072 between March 2020 and March 2022, with significant increases for patients with obesity or coagulation deficiencies. Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and mechanical ventilation also drove up costs.
