A team of researchers has developed an amplification technique to study a parity-violating interaction between spins mediated by a hypothetical Z' boson. The setup, called SAPPHIRE, uses polarized rubidium and xenon atoms to increase sensitivity five orders of magnitude, setting new constraints on the strength of this interaction.
