University of Michigan chemists have discovered a way to use visible light to synthesize monocyclic azetidines, a class of compounds well-suited for pharmaceuticals. The method uses a photocatalyst and overcomes challenges in producing these compounds, which are essential building blocks for therapeutic drugs.
