October 18, 2007 – Reston, Virginia – The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is proud to announce that the following awards will be presented at the 26th Digital Avionics Systems Conference at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Dallas, Texas, October 21-25.
Andrew Zeitlin, senior principal engineer at the MITRE Center for Advanced Aviation System Development in McLean, Virginia, will receive the AIAA 2007 Dr. John C. Ruth Digital Avionics Award. The award is presented to recognize outstanding achievement in technical management and/or implementation of digital avionics in space or aeronautical systems to include system analysis, design, development or application. Zeitlin is being recognized for his seminal role in the definition and development of the extremely critical algorithms that are the cornerstone of the internationally deployed Aircraft Collision Avoidance System (ACAS).
Robert Acree, program manager, Satellite Protection Technologies in the Space Vehicles Directorate at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, will receive the AIAA 2007 Information Systems Award. The award is presented for technical and/or management contributions in space and aeronautics computer and sensing aspects of information technology and science. Acree is being recognized for technical leadership in space radar and sensing of air and space objects that has enhanced information for ground and space tracking.
Each honoree will receive an engraved medal, a certificate of citation and a rosette pin on Wednesday, October 24, during the awards luncheon held in conjunction 26th Digital Avionics Systems Conference at the Adam’s Mark Hotel in Dallas, Texas.
