The data show that most of the recent fatality increases have been among older riders—those 40 years of age and older. The analysis also found older riders—likely to be involved in a fatality—ride motorcycles with larger engines that have displacements of more than 1,000 cc.

The analysis also showed more motorcyclists were killed on rural roads than urban roads, and more than half of all motorcycle fatalities involved a collision with another type of vehicle.
