Nitrogen deposition in Congo Basin

Based on nitrogen deposition field data and modeling, a study of the central Congo Basin finds that current regional nitrogen deposition rates largely exceed existing simulation rates, which have previously indicated that the remote tropical forest receives low deposition rates; the study also suggests that annual savannah biomass burning is likely responsible for the elevated deposition rates.
