Climate projections for China suggest that drought in China is expected to increase in intensity, area, and frequency, with associated economic losses 10 and 20 times greater during 2020-2039 and 2040-2059, when the 1.5°C and 2.0°C warming thresholds are expected to be reached, respectively, compared with 1986-2005, suggesting that limiting future warming to 1.5°C might save tens of billions of dollars in future drought losses in China.
