Jessica Hurley, Assistant Professor, English, will receive $35,000 from the National Humanities Center for a fellowship supporting her book project, "Nuclear Decolonizations."

Hurley will research how nuclearization has impacted the decolonization imaginary in India, South Africa, Oceania, and Native North America, and how writers and activists in the Global South have both represented the imperial violence of the nuclear complex and used fiction, poetry, film, and performance to theorize alternatives to it.

Funding for this award will begin in September 2021 and will end in late May 2022.
