By signing the Diversity Charter, the BfR becomes part of a nationwide network of organisations that take responsibility for a non-discriminatory and inclusive working environment. The “Year of Diversity” at the BfR will be accompanied by regular exchange and dialogue formats as well as participatory activities that highlight diversity and encourage reflection. The focus will be on the experiences, perspectives and ideas of employees. The aim is not to discuss diversity and appreciation in abstract terms, but to anchor them in everyday working life.
The Diversity Charter is the largest employer initiative in Germany for promoting diversity in the workplace. Signatories commit to creating a working environment that is free of prejudice, regardless of age, ethnic origin and nationality, gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and worldview, sexual orientation and social background.
The German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) is a scientifically independent institution within the portfolio of the German Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Regional Identity (BMLEH). It protects people's health preventively in the fields of public health and veterinary public health. The BfR provides advice to the Federal Government as well as the Federal States (‘Laender’) on questions related to food, feed, chemical and product safety. The BfR conducts its own research on topics closely related to its assessment tasks.
