Network Foundation Technologies, a company of 10 programmers, is an innovator in developing online video streaming technology that dramatically lowers the costs of online broadcasting.
The commercial potential of NFT's technology is that it will bring large-scale, low-cost, television-style broadcasting to large audiences via the Internet.
"Network Foundation Technologies is pleased to be the recipient of this competitively awarded National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research grant," said company founder Dr. Mike O'Neal. O'Neal is also an associate professor of computer science at Tech.
O'Neal said that competition for NSF grants is rigorous with only 10 percent of the more than 1,000 proposals submitted selected for funding.
"This information technology company is providing the kind of high technology jobs and economic development that our community needs," said Dr. Davey Norris, executive director of the Louisiana Tech Technology Enterprise Center where the Incubator and other academic units are located. "The grant is indicative of the promise that the company and their innovative technology show."
