The Elizabeth Wood Award was named after the 1957 ACA president, who was the author of science books aimed at the general public. The award was established in 1997 to honor a person who has brought science to the attention of a wider audience.

Cole will be honored Wednesday, July 25th, at a banquet at the annual ACA meeting, being held at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles.
