Michelle Williams, Assistant Professor, Global and Community Health, received funding from the Mississippi State Department of Health for a lung cancer screening webinar series.
The webinar series is targeted toward a wide audience including healthcare providers whose patient population includes Mississippians. The goal of the series is to decrease lung cancer incidence and mortality rates in Mississippi by increasing lung cancer screening and smoking cessation.
The first session of the series took place Feb. 23 and focused on Lung Cancer Screening 101.
The second session took place April 5 and focused on smoking cessation.
The third session will take place May 18 and will focus on Lung Cancer Screening 201.
Additional sessions will occur in June and will focus on smoking cessation about pregnant women and other high-riskpopulations.
Williams received $9,999 from the Mississippi State Department of Health for this project. Funding began in Feb. 2022 and will end in late June 2022.
