In this issue, Birken and coauthors document a substantial decline from 1971 to 1998 in the rate of unintentional injuries among Canadian children living in urban areas.
In a related commentary Howard calls for, among several measures, greater injury prevention advocacy to help reduce the number of children injured in Canada every year.
In a related editorial, Dr. Richard Stanwick states that if Canada were to make a concerted and ultimately successful effort in reducing child poverty, the country's standing among OECD nations should improve in future UNICEF report cards.
