Oxford University Press (OUP) is pleased to announce the launch of a new open access journal, Biology Methods & Protocols . The journal has an international and multidisciplinary editorial board led by Dr. Silvia Ayora, Centro Nacional de Biotecnología (CNB-CSIC) as Editor-in-Chief.
Dr. Ayora notes, "There are few journals dedicated to Methods in Biology, and most of the methods published are disseminated in many specific journals. However, we believe that our advance in knowledge will benefit from a common forum. With this philosophy, we have established Biology Methods & Protocols as a Digital Journal that publishes methodology and protocol papers in the Biological Sciences area. We hope that this new journal will grow into a successful and dynamic inter-disciplinary Methods Journal, where the audience will not be restricted to one discipline or sub-discipline."
Jennifer Boyd, publisher at OUP commented "As biological science methods become ever more complex and specialized, the importance of dedicated, clear, and reproducible descriptions of those methods is crucial. Biology Methods & Protocols will provide a forum for these papers which will both enable recognition for those scientists who are developing novel methods, and provide an open access resource for others working in the field. We're delighted to have Silvia at the helm of this new journal."
In the tradition of other Oxford University Press Journals, the manuscripts published will rely on a thorough peer review process, and techniques will be published with the sufficient detail that other laboratories can use them independently. We are confident that this new Journal will become a valuable resource for the scientific community to find valuable tools for their research.
