An analysis of meteorological records and data from regulatory police stops, fatal vehicle crashes, food safety inspections, and food safety violations during various periods from 2000 to 2017 in the United States revealed a link between temperature and risk of fatal crashes and food safety violations as well as a link between temperature and police stops and food safety inspections; using climate projections for 2050 and 2099, the researchers estimate that future warming might be tied to increased and diminished regulatory oversight during cool and hot seasons, respectively.
