MONTREAL/June 19,2009 – Judith Woodsworth, President and Vice-Chancellor of Concordia University welcomes an investment of $3,348,402 in funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation that will provide leading-edge infrastructure support to three outstanding faculty members.
"This announcement provides a welcome boost to Concordia University's research infrastructure at a time when our research strengths are being recognized in a variety of areas," says Woodsworth."It acknowledges the importance and quality of the innovative research conducted here."
The Concordia researchers receiving funding are engineering professor Suong Hoa for his work on the development of advanced composites and nanocomposites; fine arts professor Lynn Hughes for the implementation of the second phase of the Institute for Research-Creation in Media Arts and Technologies (HEXAGRAM); and chemistry and biochemistry professor Ann English for a high performance mass spectrometer to perform sophisticated measurements at the molecular, cellular and systems biology levels.
