Alexandria, Va. – The 2009 Pulp Biology and Regeneration Award is being presented to Dr. Pamela DenBesten, from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), USA. The International Association for Dental Research (IADR) will present the award at its 87th General Session & Exhibition in Miami, Florida, USA, on April 1, 2009.
Dr. DenBesten is professor and chair of the Division of Pediatric Dentistry, UCSF. She has made significant contributions to our understanding of the biology of dental tissue development and regeneration, with particular focus on the role of matrix molecules in cellular signaling and also the effects of fluoride on odontogenesis. Her recent studies on regeneration in the dentin-pulp complex have highlighted the roles of several bio-active molecules in regenerative events.
The IADR Pulp Biology and Regeneration Award is supported by L.D. Caulk DENTSPLY International and consists of a monetary prize and plaque. The award recognizes, encourages, and stimulates outstanding research contributions in the field of pulp biology and is one of the 16 IADR Distinguished Scientist Awards. This award is one of the highest honors bestowed by IADR.
