Researchers report an integrated pregnancy monitoring sensor network that can wirelessly interface with mobile devices and monitor vital signs from women and fetuses, including maternal heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygenation, blood pressure, body position, temperature, uterine contractions, and fetal heart rate; additionally, the sensors' performance, usability, and safety were demonstrated in field trials of 91 women in high-resource settings and 485 women in low-resource settings, according to the authors.
